I think the powerstance is where you can shift stance with a weapon (or set) to gain new movesets and higher damage. I believe in DS2 you had to have 2x the strength requirement for the weapon to be able to do this. I haven't even spent a soul on upgrading myself so I don't know if this feature is back.
